It has been a nice few weeks of rest, enjoying my time I've been spending with my family and just straight up relaxing. Starting Monday is the first day of the Summer Quarter and my Ninth quarter at the school which means I have been going there for two years now. It has been a crazy two years I might add, but they won't be compared to the wild year ahead of me.
It's always interesting for me when each quarter is about to start. I always catch up with my roommates that first night back and see how they enjoyed/spent their break. The main reason as to why it's all very interesting is because each quarter is like a different movie just each quarter may or may not be a sequel...cough, cough last two quarters cough cough. Different things are always happening and each quarter brings it's trials and tribulations. It almost feels like each week is a level in a game and that there are 10-11 levels with the final week/level being the boss fight.
Well anyway just felt like updating, I'll try to give posts throughout next week to let you the reader know how the first week back is going. Also I have decided to change my signature quote, figure maybe every month or maybe every quarter change the quote.

Finally!
Well it has finally come to an end...nah not this blog, but the quarter is finally over for me and my 3 week break can officially begin. This quarter mashed right up to last quarter has to be the most exhausting part of the year. Since in between Winter and Spring is only a measly 10 days which goes by quick and there is not true relief from the past quarters trials and tribulations. So Spring becomes actually the most stressful quarter of them all. Luckily I will only have to do that once more next year so hallelujah!!! Well anyway I'm gonna start enjoying my break and I will post on here to... I don't know what I'm gonna post on here but I'll think of something... til next time...Stay Classy!

Final Countdown!
Hello to my fellow followers,
I would first like to come on here and say that I apologize for being behind on posting everyday. I try to get one in as often as possible, like I did this past week with E3. Difference is now that it is over, I had to focus a big portion of my time devoting it to my finals which is this next week. I will be posting on here and updating throughout the week on how it goes.
Sidenote: Possibly thinking about devoting another blog to my other passion which is video games. Reason behind it is to keep the two separated and to have this one about my work focused solely to what I go to school for and to have the more fun one open and about interesting things. This is to also allow me to post things I find in video game news and post it without bogging down the other posts and burying them among the rest. I will leave a poll up to see what you guys think, whether I should do it or not.

Sly News!
Just saw the fourth trailer for the fourth installment in the Sly Cooper series and I have to say I am stoked. I have been a fan since its PS2 days and played every one of them to the fullest extent and glad that finally a fourth game is coming out. Sadly it is not done by Sucker Punch, mainly because they are too deep into the Infamous franchise. This game will be done by Sanzaru Games. Below are the trailer and two video demos of the game...Enjoy!

Closing (Day 4)
Making strides in my finals for next week. But today is the final day of E3 and I have to say that this year seems to be a year that will be talked about for a couple of years to come. Quite a bit of interesting developments going on in the gaming world. Looking forward to seeing what comes out of all the previews/demos/and all of the news in the coming year. Til tomorrow take care!

Loaded (Day 3)
Well nothing ground-breaking happened today, but I have been watching a lot of videos on some cool and upcoming games. Ghost Recon: Future Soldier looks amazing and might make me get a KINECT. There are a lot of games this year that look amazing, its hard to pick out which one I will get first...well that kind of is already decided before E3 started, since I pre-ordered Gears of War 3.
Now back to what this blog's main focus is about, still finishing up my finals. Decided last night that for my final due next Tuesday night, that I was just gonna design a huge spread to put all of my objects on and then spray-mount them onto my 20x30 foam core board. This is to prevent problems of cutting out the individual elements and spray mounting them on one by one. Other than that just chugging on through the process. I will update here if anything from E3 catches my eye. Tomorrow is the last day of the epic event. Other than that, take care and I will be back tomorrow with my final E3 wrap-up and more updates for whats to come for my final week of the quarter. Peace!

U? (Day Two)
Just got done watching the Nintendo Conference, and I have to say that there were some high points, but they did not hit it out of the park. I was looking for something a little more concrete, but the console isn't slated to come out until 2012. So I can understand it being vague to a point. They kept mentioning the word console, but only introduced the new console name as Wii U. Even though they mentioned the word console, they only revealed the new innovative controller. Its has so many great features. On top of that they have a great slate of third-party games, which is what Nintendo needed to do to step away from the stigma of the Wii. Who knows what comes out of this development, but I am looking forward to it. For more information on everything Nintendo head over to e3.nintendo.com.
That was the meat of the show, but what they opened up with was what my favorite part was. It opened up with a symphony playing Zelda music and showing scenes from all the Zelda games and showed clips of the next game The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. This year marks the 25th Anniversary of The Legend of Zelda franchise. This series has to be one of my favorite series of all time. I was stoked when they were talking about what they all plan on releasing in the upcoming months. Looking forward to it!

All Wrapped Up! (Day One)
Well I know I haven't really updated a whole lot after the Microsoft Press Conference, but I got caught up in the moment and some finals sort of took over a bit. That may be that but Xbox is where my Day 1 focus was at. Sony did reveal more about their new handheld to be released this holiday season no longer called NGP, but now PlayStation Vita. The other conferences had great things to talk about but I got caught up in work. So overall for Day 1, good start to E3, hope Nintendo knocks it out of the park tomorrow and I hope more cool things are revealed and demoed in the days to come.

Excited!
In just a few hours the biggest gaming event will begin with Microsoft's Press-Conference. I am stoked to see what is going to be revealed this year. Like stated before I will be posting on here things I find extremely worth-while and keep updating the post throughout the day. First up Microsoft at 12:30 PM ET/ 9:30 AM PT.
UPDATE (1:20PM) Just saw the first big chunk of the Microsoft conference and I would have to say that I am impressed to a certain degree. There are still 40 minutes left so they might impress me. I'm looking forward to Gears of War 3, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. These three look awesome. I played the Gears of War 3 beta last month. I enjoy Call of Duty and its the Tenth Year Anniversary of the game that put the Xbox on the market as a contender and Halo: Combat Evolved is remastered and going to be released Nov. 15th, 2011. I will give my final verdict when the conference is over at 2 PM.
UPDATE (2 PM) Well the Microsoft Conference just wrapped up and I knew that after I posted that previous post that there would be something big. Well first I was excited to hear that Minecraft will launch on the Xbox. At the end of it all this conference this trailer was showing the inside of the 'blood system' in someone and could hear someone calling out to a "John' to wake up. All of a sudden Master Chief shows up and an awesome scene progresses and then the title shows up as 'Halo 4'. Thats not the end of it, Halo 4 is just the start of a new trilogy. So that means Halo 5, and Halo 6. Halo 4 will be out Holiday 2012. I cannot wait til then, but there will be more to come up with a couple more press conferences to come up today and tomorrow. I will try to put up video highlights on here once I can get my hands on that gold. Til then enjoy all of the news updates.
UPDATE (2:30 PM) Found a video for the announcement of Halo: 4 and for Halo: Anniversary, enjoy!

Crunch Time!
Hello, Fellow Bloggers
Today I'm feeling relaxed and I'm trying to enjoy this nice day, but I keep having this dark cloud following me. This dark cloud would be the final 2 weeks of my quarter and knowing what all has to be done for all my classes. One big presentation, one final research paper, one final assessment paper, two final exams and along with that some minor things here and there.
Now I would figure being at the school now for about 2 years this July, that I would be used to all of this. Truth is I never get used to it. It always seems that each quarter brings its own challenges for me to face head on. With about a year left to go I feel that I will never get used to all of the crunching that goes on. I know whats ahead of me in the next year. I will be getting my portfolio together, probably interning somewhere (or at the very least work with a client), might possibly find a place to live and move out of the dorms (or live from home and commute). Quite a lot a big things that might be going on and that is just the icing on the cake, there is bound to be more crazy things/stressful things that will hit me like a bus (not literally).
Sorry for ranting on but today is Sunday and I felt like needed to share that with you, so you know what to expect over the next year.

Looking Forward
On Monday the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) starts. Being an avid gamer along with my passion for design I enjoy video games and this is the event of the year. Knowing that this year is going to be another big year full of surprises, I am looking forward to seeing great games and what Nintendo® has in store in unveiling their new console titled Project Cafe'. Throughout this upcoming week I will be posting about the event along with the usual posts about my travels through the Graphic Design world.

Reflecting
When thinking about what to put up on here art wise I had to do some digging. This piece below is from about a year ago. I had to do this one for a studio in Pittsburgh. They do art revolving around animals and such and did things with the Taco Bell dog. Well our task in class was to combine an animal with a famous historical figure. Well I had run it through my head quite a few times what I wanted to create. I eventually decided to combine a Kodiak Bear and Joseph Stalin. I went with a cut-paper style look to it.
A lot of people liked what I had come up with. So over our break our instructor took our work to the studio and they were gonna pick three pieces for their studio to hang on the wall. Sadly I did not get picked as one the individuals but this piece was one of my successful pieces of work and I felt like this place would be great to share it.

All Aboard!
Hello, Fellow Bloggers
My name is Andrew R. Grimwood, and I am currently studying Graphic Design at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. This is not my first blog, but this is my first dealing with my future profession and field of study. I plan on using this blog to put my name out there as a 'first footstep' in the right direction and the unknown. I also plan on using this blog to talk about my growing interest in the field of Graphic Design and to discuss what I learn along the way. Hope you enjoy reading this as much as I will when writing it.
